Before You Come In!

Curl Power is committed to helping you get your best results for your hair's natural texture. We specialize in naturally wavy, curly, super curly and coily hair textures, and want to see YOUR texture when you come in for your services with us. The following suggestions for hair prep are designed to help maximize your time with your stylist. Please arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment! Late appointments may need to be canceled or rescheduled at the stylist's discretion. We want you to have the best experience and to ensure that we have the time to give your hair what it needs. Please call us before your appointment if you have additional questions on preparing your hair.

Haircut Appointment Prep

  • Wash, condition and detangle your hair either the day before or the same day as your appointment and make sure you give yourself enough time for your hair to be completely dry by the time you arrive.

  • We are looking for your hair's natural spring and shape so we can cut each curl accurately. Please style your hair with as much definition as you can so we can give you the most accurate cut. 

  • Leave your hair down- leave it out of pony tails, buns, clips and braids to avoid stretching. Removal of protective styles may result in an added charge.

  • Make sure your hair is detangled. Excess detangling may result in an added charge.

  • We want to see your hair as best you can make it. If you don’t know how, that's OK! Just do your best, and we’ll take it from there. You showing us your best wash day gives your stylist a good idea of what you are doing at home and can provide direction for the service. 

  • How much product should I use? Depends! Do you use water soluble gels, creams, or foams? Go for it, but as little as you need to get the job done.  Do you prefer mostly oils and butters? If so, we ask that you do a deep cleanse or clarifying shampoo before your appointment. We would like the opportunity to see your naked hair and assess moisture needs. Basically, less is more with product on appointment day. 

  • Pro tip: book a detangling add on with your appointment if needed and consider adding a clarifying or deep conditioning treatment to address specific concerns.

Color Service Appointment Prep

Please do all of the above AND-

  • Discontinue use of heavy oils/butters like coconut oil, Shea butter, Moroccan oil and products that contain these ingredients at least two weeks before your color services.

  • Use a clarifying treatment like DevaCurl Build Up Buster or Malibu Undo Goo ahead of your color service if products with heavier oils are part of your routine. In-salon clarifying will result in an additional charge.

  • Ensure that none of your products contain Henna, and that any hair grow out with previous Henna is cut off before your color service is performed. We guarantee your satisfaction for all Curl Power Services, except in cases where previous Henna remains on your hair.

Appointment Confirmations and Cancellation Policy

With booking your appointment through Vagaro, please pay attention to the information that you provide when creating your profile. It is highly recommended to provide your best contact cellular number and a personal (not work) email. You will receive a confirmation text and email from Vagaro for your scheduled appointment day. Vagaro will first notify you to confirm your scheduled appointment day 72 hours and then the last 36 hours before your scheduled appointment day. If you confirm your scheduled appointment day on either of those reminders Vagaro will note that your appointment has been confirmed by you.

Please Note: IT IS IMPORTANT TO CONFIRM YOUR APPOINTMENT DAY. If you have NOT CONFIRMED your scheduled appointment day by the time the last 24 hours, your appointment will be canceled as it was not confirmed by you so that we may offer that appointment slot to another client. All new clients are required to provide a credit card at the time of booking to secure your requested appointment time. The credit card is not charged ahead of the appointment. We charge a 50% cancellation fee in the case that guests cancel less than 24 hours prior to their appointment or no show. For special color correction services or others that may require significant amounts of time, deposits may be required at the discretion of the stylist. After repeated canceled or no show appointments, deposits may be required at the discretion of the stylist and/or future appointment requests may be declined.
